Regular Season Round 15: UCC Demons - Belfast Star 98-88

An interesting game for UCC Demons (9-4) which hosted in Cork 4th placed Belfast Star (5-8). Second ranked UCC Demons managed to get a 10-point victory 98-88. UCC Demons outrebounded Belfast Star 50-26 including a 21-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for American power forward Marcus Van (201-85, college: Cent.Michigan) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 22 rebounds. The former international guard Shane Coughlan (188-79) accounted for 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Five UCC Demons players scored in double figures. American forward Clayton Longmire (201-84, college: St.Rose (NY)) came up with 22 points and 6 rebounds and Conor Johnston (-90) added 22 points (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) respectively for Belfast Star in the defeat. Belfast Star's coach Danny Fulton let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. UCC Demons maintains second place with 9-4 record having four points less than leader UL Eagles. Loser Belfast Star keeps the fourth position with eight games lost. UCC Demons' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Cork to the arena Neptune.
