There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Miyazaki Shining Suns (9-21) beat on the road 6th ranked Oita Heat Devils (14-18) 93-79 on Sunday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Miyazaki Shining Suns made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. Quite impressive performance for American forward Brandon Cole (203-84, college: Xavier, agency: Global Sports Plaza) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds. His fellow American import swingman Jackie Manuel (196-83, college: N.Carolina) contributed with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Forward Kimitake Sato (186-84) answered with 26 points and 5 rebounds and American forward Damian Johnson (201-87, college: Minnesota, agency: Edge Sports) added 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Oita Heat Devils. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Miyazaki Shining Suns moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Takamatsu FA. Loser Oita Heat Devils keep the sixth position with 18 games lost. Miyazaki Shining Suns will face league's leader Shiga Lakestars at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
