We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 15th ranked Olimpico de La Banda (4-10) lost to bottom-ranked Sionista (3-11) in Parana 74-83 on Tuesday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Olimpico de La Banda won fourth quarter 26-25. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sionista shot 60.9 percent from the field and made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. Sionista had a 24-12 advantage in offensive rebounds. Olimpico de La Banda was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American forward Christopher Hayes (206-87, college: Detroit Mercy) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds. The former international forward Juan Manuel Locatelli (198-75) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Hayes is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Four Sionista players scored in double figures. Sionista's coach Sebastian Svetliza used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international center Diego Guaita (204-83) answered with 22 points and guard Lucas Picarelli (184-81) added 9 points and 6 assists in the effort for Olimpico de La Banda. Sionista maintains sixteenth place with 3-11 record. Olimpico de La Banda lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth position with ten games lost. Sionista will face higher ranked Regatas Corrientes (#11) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
