The most exciting game of round 33 in the Korisliiga took place in Helsinki. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 7th ranked Torpan Pojat (16-17) to sixth ranked Kouvot (18-15) 82-79 in the game for the sixth place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Torpan Pojat. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 43-39 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. The former international forward Ville Kaunisto (204-82) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners and American guard Josh Gonner (188-82, college: S.Carolina) chipped in 18 points and 7 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American forward LaVell Blanchard (201-81, college: Michigan, agency: Beo Basket) with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import guard Frank Richards (188-82, college: Kansas St.) scored 13 points and 6 rebounds. Four Torpan Pojat players scored in double figures. Kouvot have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain sixth place with 18-15 record. Torpan Pojat at the other side keeps the seventh position with 17 games lost. Kouvot are looking forward to face higher ranked Espoo Honka (#5) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Torpan Pojat will play against the league's leader Tampereen Pyrinto and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
