We should mention about the upset which took place in Tychy, where 10th ranked AZS Szczecin (8-13) lost to thirteenth ranked GKS Tychy (6-12) in a road game 70-87 on Wednesday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of AZS Szczecin. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 87-70. GKS Tychy made 29-of-32 free shots (90.6 percent) during the game. Guard Jacek Jarecki (197-88) stepped up and scored 23 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) for the winners and power forward Mariusz Markowicz (198-86) chipped in 14 points and 10 rebounds. Four GKS Tychy players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was center Karol Pytys (202-85) with 14 points and 6 rebounds and guard Michal Dudek (182-88) scored 11 points and 5 assists. AZS Szczecin's coach Zbigniew Majcherek rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. GKS Tychy maintains thirteenth place with 6-12 record. Newly promoted AZS Szczecin keeps the tenth position with 13 games lost. GKS Tychy will meet higher ranked ISS Sportino (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. AZS Szczecin will play against Gornik (#14) in Walbrzych and hope to secure a win.
