Regular Season Round 33: Kauhajoki - Porvoon Tarmo 95-80

Rather expected game in Kauhajoki where 12th ranked Porvoon Tarmo (4-29) was defeated by ninth ranked Kauhajoen Karhu (14-18) 95-80 on Wednesday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Kauhajoen Karhu's pressure prevailed and they won that period 28-15 extending their advantage to 15 points. Kauhajoen Karhu forced 24 Porvoon Tarmo turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Jeremiah Wood (200-85, agency: Court Side) who had a double-double by scoring 30 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists (on 14-of-17 shooting from the field). International forward Vesa Makalainen (200-86) chipped in 18 points and 7 rebounds. Kauhajoen Karhu's coach Ari Tammivaara used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Jerrah Young (202-85, college: Toledo) who recorded a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds and the other American import swingman Jonathan Heard (198-86) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Kauhajoen Karhu moved-up to eighth place. Porvoon Tarmo lost tenth consecutive game. Newly promoted Porvoon Tarmo stay dead last with 29 lost games. Kauhajoen Karhu will meet at home Namika Lahti (#9) in the next round. Porvoon Tarmo will play against Joensuun Kataja and hope to secure a win.
