Second Stage Round 2: KR - Hamar 54-65

An interesting game for Hamar (16-0) which played road game in Reykjavik against 3rd ranked KR (9-7). Top-ranked Hamar managed to get a 11-point victory 65-54. The game was mostly controlled by Hamar. KR managed to win second period 8-7. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hamar forced 25 KR turnovers. Strangely KR outrebounded Hamar 48-35 including 34 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Hamar made 11 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Jaleesa Butler (183-87, college: Georgetown) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 29 points, 15 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 blocks. The former international forward Fanney Guamundsdottir (178-89) contributed with 16 points and 4 blocks for the winners. The former international forward Margret Sturludottir (178-89) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international guard Hildur Siguraardottir (178-81) added 13 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for KR. KR's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Hamar have an impressive 16-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 16-0 record. Defending champion KR keeps the third place with seven games lost. Hamar are looking forward to face league's second-placed Keflavik at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. KR will play against Haukar in Hafnarfjordur and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
