Very important is a home loss of second ranked DongGuan Leopards (17-4) against seventeenth ranked TianJin Rongcheng (4-16) on Thursday night. Host DongGuan Leopards were defeated by TianJin Rongcheng in a tough game in DongGuan 104-111. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of DongGuan Leopards. The guests were already 20 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 35-22 DongGuan Leopards' run in the last quarter cut the lead to 111-104 at the end of the game. TianJin Rongcheng dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to DongGuan Leopards' 38. TianJin Rongcheng forced 19 DongGuan Leopards turnovers. DongGuan Leopards were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Nan Zhang (197-81) scored 27 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Ivorian-French power forward Herve Lamizana (207-81, college: Rutgers) chipped in 18 points and 16 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American-Lebanese power forward Jackson Vroman (208-81, college: Iowa St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Biao Qiu (200-83) scored 22 points and 5 rebounds. Five TianJin Rongcheng and four DongGuan Leopards players scored in double figures. DongGuan Leopards' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. TianJin Rongcheng maintains seventeenth position with 4-16 record. DongGuan Leopards at the other side keep the second place with four games lost. TianJin Rongcheng will play against higher ranked Zhejiang Cyclones (#10) in Hangzhou in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. DongGuan Leopards will play at home against Foshan (#11) and hope to get back on the winning track.
