Second Stage Round 15: Obras - Lanus 76-69
Date: February 11, 2011
The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Buenos Aires: Obras (#1) and Lanus (#3). Obras (11-4) won against visiting Lanus (10-5) 76-69. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-16. But Lanus won second period 20-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for international power forward Juan Gutierrez (205-83) who led his team to a victory with 14 points and 7 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). American forward Joshua Pittman (197-76, college: NC-Asheville, agency: Dream Team Management) contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Obras players scored in double figures. American center Terrell Taylor (203-81, college: Virginia Tech, agency: Dream Team Management) answered with 13 points and 5 rebounds and naturalized Italian center Gabriel Fernandez (204-76) added 7 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Lanus. Lanus' coach Silvio Jose Santander rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Obras have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 11-4 record. Lanus at the other side dropped to the second position with five games lost. They share it with Atenas. Obras' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Buenos Aires Boca Juniors.
