Regular Season Round 17: IR - Haukar 104-86

Haukar (#5) was upset in Reykjavik by eighth ranked IR 104-86. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Haukar. The game was mostly controlled by IR. Haukar was better in fourth quarter 29-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 17-of-22 charity shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Strangely Haukar outrebounded IR 41-29 including 26 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. American forward Kelly Biedler (196-88, college: Mt.St.Mary's) nailed a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds for the winning side and his fellow American import guard James Bartolotta (193-86, college: MIT) accounted for 19 points and 7 assists. American guard Semaj Inge (193-87, college: Temple) came up with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals and Dutch-American forward Gerald Robinson (204-84, college: Tennessee-Martin, agency: Court Side) added 15 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Haukar in the defeat. Five IR and four Haukar players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. IR (7-10) moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Tindastoll. Newly promoted Haukar dropped to the sixth position with nine games lost. IR will play against league's leader Snaefell in Stykkisholmur in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Haukar will play at home against Keflavik (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
