Regular Season Round 20: Coruna - Illescas 60-83

Bottom-ranked CB Illescas managed to get the second consecutive victory on Friday night. This time they outleveled twelfth-ranked Leyma Basquet in Coruna 83-60. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 23-point difference suggests that CB Illescas is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. The game was mostly controlled by CB Illescas. Leyma Basquet managed to win fourth quarter 22-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Leyma Basquet 39-23 including a 29-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. CB Illescas looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Hector Garcia (194-78, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording 30 points and 5 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field) and Israeli center Alexey Chubrevich (212-86, agency: Gross Zeev ISA) who added 11 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. CB Illescas' coach Sergio Jimenez felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Center Victor Hidalgo (204-86) responded with 11 points and 7 rebounds and American swingman Kyle Ohman (193, college: Liberty) scored 14 points. CB Illescas (6-13) moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Lan Mobel ISB and Coruna. CB Illescas is looking forward to face higher ranked Santurtzi (#11) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Leyma Basquet will play against Plasencia Extremadura and is hoping to win this game.
