D1 top team - Peli-Karhut (15-6) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed eighth ranked Kerava Energia Team (1-22) 77-54. The game was mostly controlled by Peli-Karhut. Kerava Energia Team managed to win second period 22-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Peli-Karhut dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Kerava Energia Team's 26. Peli-Karhut forced 21 Kerava Energia Team turnovers and outrebounded them 53-33 including a 37-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. American guard Krystal Vaughn (185-86, college: Va Commonwealth, agency: LBM Management) notched a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 22 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import forward Amanda Lassiter (186-79, college: Missouri) supported her with 6 points and 12 rebounds. Coach Seppo Kurki's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Even a double-double of 19 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals by Cypriot power forward Lisa Karcic (185-86, college: Villanova) did not help to save the game for Kerava Energia Team. Forward Evianna Sipila (172-95) added 10 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Peli-Karhut maintains first position with 15-6 record. Kerava Energia Team lost eleventh consecutive game. They stay dead last with 22 lost games. Peli-Karhut will meet HoNsU (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Kerava Energia Team will have a break next round.
