Regular Season Round 16: Belfast Star - UCD Marian 77-83

An interesting game for UCD Marian (8-9) which played road game in Belfast against one of their biggest challengers Belfast Star (5-9). Third ranked UCD Marian managed to get a 6-point victory 83-77. UCD Marian made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The winners were led by American forward James Crowder (201-86, college: Pfeiffer, agency: Agency No 10) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds and swingman Daniel James (189-90) supported him with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Five UCD Marian players scored in double figures. Even 18 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) by American forward Clayton Longmire (201-84, college: St.Rose (NY)) did not help to save the game for Belfast Star. His fellow American import guard Matthew Jackson (191-90, college: Humboldt St.) added 16 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. UCD Marian maintains third position with 8-9 record having three points less than leader UL Eagles. Loser Belfast Star keeps the fourth place with nine games lost. UCD Marian will meet at home Neptune (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Belfast Star will play against Moycullen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
