Regular Season Round 13: Sokhumi - TSU Tbilisi 59-71

The most interesting game of round 13 in the Superleague was a home defeat of 5th ranked Sokhumi (8-5) to fourth ranked TSU (9-4) 71-59. The game was mostly controlled by TSU. Sokhumi managed to win third quarter 16-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Center Richard Matiashvili (209-89) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and the former international forward Mikheil Berishvili (205-87) chipped in 19 points and 11 rebounds. At the losing side guard Lasha Parghalava (191-87, college: Montana St. - Billin) responded with 19 points and 5 rebounds and American forward Richard Damus (198-83, college: Troy) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds. Sokhumi's coach Vazha Kvaratskhelia rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. TSU moved-up to third place, which they share with Kutaisi. Sokhumi at the other side keeps the fifth position with five games lost. TSU's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Samedicino-Academia.
