Leader Tampereen Pyrinto delivered the twentieth eighth victory on Saturday night. This time they beat 7th ranked Torpan Pojat (16-18) 104-89. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 104-89. American guard Kenneth Lowe (192-80, college: Purdue, agency: Warren Sports International) scored 26 points and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Damon Williams (201-73, college: Colorado St.-Pueblo) chipped in 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Five Tampereen Pyrinto players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward LaVell Blanchard (201-81, college: Michigan, agency: Beo Basket) responded with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 15 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) and forward Timo Heinonen (198-81) scored 8 points and 11 rebounds. Defending champion maintains first position with 28-7 record. Loser Torpan Pojat keeps the seventh place with 18 games lost. Tampereen Pyrinto will meet Kouvot (#6) in the next round where they are favorite. Torpan Pojat will play against Kauhajoen Karhu in Kauhajoki and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
