Thirteenth-ranked Ilysiakos (4-13) made lots of trouble for seventh ranked Aris (9-8) in Thessaloniki. Aris managed to secure only five-point victory 84-79. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Ilysiakos won third quarter 16-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Ilysiakos used huge pressure winning it 25-15 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 14-19. Ilysiakos was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 17 rebounds. The former international forward Christos Tapoutos (208-82) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and guard Athanasios Karydas (182-78) added 14 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Ilysiakos. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Ilysiakos' coach Kostas Flevarakis tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Aris moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Kavala. Ilysiakos at the other side dropped to the twelfth position with 13 games lost. They share it with AEK. Aris will play against Peristeri GS (#8) in Athens in the next round. Ilysiakos' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Athens AEK.
