Regular Season Round 13: GTU Tbilisi - Rustavi 83-51

An interesting game took place in Tbilisi where 6th ranked Energy Invest (7-5) was upset on the court of ninth ranked GTU (4-9) 83-51. The game without a history. GTU led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They also forced 24 Energy Invest turnovers and outrebounded them 52-41 including 37 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Beqa Chikviladze (195-91) who helped to win the game recording 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Power forward Guliver Akhalkatsi (205-76) contributed with 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four GTU players scored in double figures. Guard Luka Khmelidze (195-92) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds and guard Malkhazi Abaishvili (183-91) added 9 points, 7 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Energy Invest. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. GTU moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Samedicino. Energy Invest lost their third game in a row. Defending champion keeps the sixth position with five games lost. GTU's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Army Sport Klub.
