Date: February 12, 2011
DBL top team - GasTerra (24-2) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed fifth ranked DeFriesland (13-14) in Groningen 104-61. The game without a history. GasTerra led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to DeFriesland's 30. GasTerra forced 20 DeFriesland turnovers and outrebounded them 48-29 including a 36-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by DeFriesland's players. It was a good game for American guard Jason Dourisseau (196-83, college: Nebraska) who led his team to a victory with 18 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). His fellow American import power forward John Turek (205-83, college: Nebraska) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Five GasTerra players scored in double figures. American-Mexican forward Mark Sanchez (201-87, college: Boise St.) answered with 19 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and American swingman Gerad Punch (193-84, college: Furman, agency: Scorers 1st Sportmanagement) added 12 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for DeFriesland. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. GasTerra have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 24-2 record. DeFriesland at the other side keeps the fifth position with 14 games lost. GasTerra are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Rotterdam (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. DeFriesland will play against Giants (#7) in Bergen op Zoom and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
