Regular Season Round 17: Panathinaikos - Kolossos 92-56
Date: February 12, 2011
No shocking result in a game in Athens where second ranked Panathinaikos (16-1) smashed 6th ranked VAP Kolossos (8-9) 92-56 on Saturday. The game without a history. Panathinaikos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. International swingman Stratos Perperoglou (203-84) stepped up and scored 12 points for the winners and American guard Drew Nicholas (191-81, college: Maryland) chipped in 14 points. Four Panathinaikos players scored in double figures. Naturalized American center Steve Panos (203-88, college: Weber St.) responded with 10 points and American guard Jared Jordan (188-84, college: Marist) scored 4 points and 7 assists. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Panathinaikos. Defending champion maintains second place with 16-1 record behind leader Olympiakos. Loser VAP Kolossos dropped to the seventh position with nine games lost. They share it with Peristeri GS and Panionios. Panathinaikos will meet Kavala (#6) on the road in the next round. VAP Kolossos will play against Iraklis in Thessaloniki and hope to secure a win.
