The game between closely ranked teams ended with 10th ranked Club 9's (7-8) home loss to ninth ranked Penarol (8-6) 64-69 on Sunday. Club 9 was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 5-point lead after three quarters before a 22-12 charge of Penarol, which allowed them to win the game. Penarol had a 36-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. American guard Kyle Lamonte (191-84, college: William Carey, agency: KMG Sports Management) fired 21 points for the winners. International forward Leonardo Gutierrez (200-78) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. Lamonte is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American power forward Jerome Meyinsse (206-88, college: Virginia) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds and guard Gaston Luchino (184-82) added 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Defending champion moved-up to sixth place. Newly promoted Club 9 keeps the tenth position with eight games lost. They share it with Regatas C.. Penarol will meet at home Libertad Sunchales (#7) in the next round. Club 9 will play again against Penarol in Mar del Plata and hope to secure a win.
