Important game to mention about took place in Nagoya. Seventh ranked Mitsubishi Dolphins (10-20) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 4th ranked Toshiba Thunders (15-15) 72-70 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Toshiba Thunders. Toshiba Thunders were ahead by 8 points after three quarters before a 27-17 charge of Mitsubishi Dolphins, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Toshiba Thunders outrebounded Mitsubishi Dolphins 43-31 including a 35-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international guard Kei Igarashi (180-80) scored 27 points to lead the charge for the winners and American-Spanish forward Ontario Lett (198-79, college: Pittsburgh) chipped in 10 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was swingman Yatsutoshi Uda (190-86) with 21 points and 8 rebounds and American forward Charles O'Bannon (198-75, college: UCLA) scored 19 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Mitsubishi Dolphins maintains seventh position with 10-20 record. Toshiba Thunders at the other side keep the fourth place with 15 games lost. Mitsubishi Dolphins will play against higher ranked Tochigi Brex (#6) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Toshiba Thunders will play against Hitachi Sunrockers in Osaka and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
