Regular Season Round 30: Panasonic T. - Aishin SH 80-77

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Aishin Sea Horses (22-8) in Osaka on Sunday night. Visitors were edged by third ranked Panasonic Trians (20-10) 80-77. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 80-77. It was a good game for the former international center Fumihiko Aono (210-78) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. American forward Jerald Honeycutt (205-74, college: Tulane) contributed with 13 points for the winners. The former international power forward Kosuke Takeuchi (205-85) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and the former international center J.R. Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) added 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Aishin Sea Horses. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Panasonic Trians moved-up to second place, which they share with Toyota. Aishin Sea Horses at the other side still keep top position with eight games lost. Panasonic Trians is looking forward to face league's second-placed Toyota Alvark in Fuchu in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Aishin Sea Horses will play at home against Hokkaido in Saporro and are hoping to win this game.
