Regular Season Round 23: DongGuan L. - Foshan LL 113-105

Very expected game when 11th ranked Foshan (8-13) was defeated on the road by second ranked DongGuan Leopards (18-4) 113-105. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Foshan won third quarter 37-28. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when DongGuan Leopards won last quarter 37-30. They dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Foshan's 36. 29 personal fouls committed by Foshan helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American-Lebanese power forward Jackson Vroman (208-81, college: Iowa St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). The former international center Kai Zhang (211-82) contributed with 23 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. DongGuan Leopards' coach Brian Goorjian allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American guard Stephon Marbury (187-77, college: Georgia Tech) answered with 37 points (!!!) and 5 assists and forward Yong-gang Zhao (200-82) added 28 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Foshan. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. DongGuan Leopards maintains second place with 18-4 record having just one points less than leader Xinjiang. Foshan at the other side dropped to the twelfth position with 13 games lost. DongGuan Leopards will have a break next round. Foshan will play at home against Zhejiang Cyclones (#10) in Hangzhou and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
