Regular Season Round 15: Panathinaikos - Aris 72-74

The biggest surprise of round 15 in A1 was guest Aris' (10-5) road victory over Panathinaikos (#5) 74-72 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Panathinaikos. Panathinaikos was trailing by 9 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 21-17 charge of Aris, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was Canadian forward Stefany Skrba (188-87, college: Michigan) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 18 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). American guard Camille LeNoir (168-86, college: USC) chipped in 15 points and 6 assists. Four Aris players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Romanian forward Gabriela Marginean (185-87, college: Drexel) who recorded 28 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Jennifer Derevjanik (175-82, college: George Mason) added 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Aris have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Esperides. Panathinaikos at the other side keeps the fifth position with six games lost. Aris is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Amarillida (#12) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Panathinaikos' supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Athens to the arena Panionios.
