Second Stage Round 3: KR - Haukar 67-66 OT

Fifth-ranked Haukar (6-11) gave a tough game to third ranked KR (10-7) in Reykjavik. KR managed to secure only one-point victory 67-66. However their fans expected easier game. Haukar was ahead by 9 points after three quarters before a 21-12 charge of KR, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 4-3. KR forced 19 Haukar turnovers. Strangely Haukar outrebounded KR 61-47 including 26 on the offensive glass. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. The former international forward Margret Sturludottir (178-89) nailed a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and the former international guard Hildur Siguraardottir (178-81) accounted for 14 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. KR's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The former international center Ragna Brynjarsdottir (188-90) came up with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 19 rebounds and American guard Kathleen Snodgrass (175-82) added 18 points and 12 rebounds respectively for Haukar in the defeat. Four Haukar players scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains third place with 10-7 record having six points less than leader Hamar. Haukar lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with 11 games lost. KR will play against league's second-placed Keflavik at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Haukar will play against the league's leader Hamar (#1) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
