The biggest surprise of round 17 was guest Bnei Hasharon's (10-7) easy road victory over 3rd placed Galil Gilboa (9-8) 69-48 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Galil Gilboa. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The game without a history. Bnei Hasharon led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Galil Gilboa to just 6 points in second quarter. They outrebounded Galil Gilboa 42-30 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American forward Lee Nailon (204-75, college: TCU) who scored 12 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. American-Romanian swingman Dan Grunfeld (198-84, college: Stanford) chipped in 11 points and 7 rebounds. Four Bnei Hasharon players scored in double figures. American forward Tyler Wilkerson (203-88, college: Marshall) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and international guard Dagan Yavzuri (193-85) added 10 points and 4 steals respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Bnei Hasharon moved-up to second place, which they share with Hapoel J-M. Defending champion Galil Gilboa dropped to the fifth position with eight games lost. Bnei Hasharon is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Ironi Ashkelon (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Galil Gilboa will play against Maccabi Ashdod (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
