Sixth-ranked Beer Yaakov (10-9) made lots of trouble for first ranked Hapoel T-A (17-1) on Tuesday. The visitors from Tel-Aviv managed to secure only one-point victory 85-84. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Beer Yaakov won third quarter 30-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Hapoel T-A won last quarter 13-14. Hapoel T-A outrebounded Beer Yaakov 33-18 including 22 on the defensive glass. Jamaican-American power forward Adrian Uter (201-84, college: Hofstra, agency: Gross Zeev ISA) fired 24 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. The former international forward Matan Naor (194-80) chipped in 21 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). American-Cape Verdean guard Joshua Gomes (190-83, college: E.Illinois) produced 27 points and American forward Jermaine Hall (196-80, college: Wagner) added 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Newly promoted Hapoel T-A maintains first place with 17-1 record. Beer Yaakov lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth position with nine games lost. They share it with Hapoel Tivon. Hapoel T-A are looking forward to face Megido/Yokneam (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Beer Yaakov will play against the league's second-placed Maccabi HBK in Habikaa and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
