Second Stage Round 17: GECR Indalo - Argentino 84-82
Date: February 16, 2011
Everything went according to plan in Comodoro R. where third ranked Gimnasia CR (12-6) edged 12th ranked Argentino (6-11) 84-82 on Wednesday. However just two-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 29-18. But Argentino won second period 21-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Argentino outrebounded Gimnasia CR 41-25 including 28 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American power forward Hakeem Rollins (202-83, college: Washington, agency: Dream Team Management) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. Nigerian-American power forward Reggie Okosa (206-80, college: La Salle) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. Five Gimnasia CR players scored in double figures. American power forward Joseph Bunn (198-75, college: Phillips (OK)) produced 27 points and 6 steals and the other American import power forward Torraye Braggs (203-76, college: Xavier) added 15 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Gimnasia CR. They moved-up to second place. Argentino lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the twelfth position with 11 games lost. Gimnasia CR will face again Argentino (#12) in Junin in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
