Regular Season Round 24: Qingdao E. - Fujian QB 110-109 OT

Sixteenth-ranked Fujian SBS XunXin (5-18) gave a tough game to thirteenth ranked Qingdao Double Star (9-13) on Wednesday. Qingdao Double Star managed to secure only one-point victory 110-109. However their fans expected easier game. The hosts trailed by 14 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game in overtime by 1 point. Qingdao Double Star looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Fujian SBS XunXin's players. The best player for the winners was American forward Charles Gaines (201-81, college: S.Mississippi, agency: Gross Zeev ISA) who had a double-double by scoring 42 points (!!!) and 19 rebounds. The other American import guard Dee Brown (185-84, college: Illinois) chipped in a double-double by scoring 24 points, 5 rebounds, 12 assists and 4 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Andre Emmett (196-82, college: Texas Tech) who recorded 38 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds and the former international guard XiaoMing Lu (176-79) added 15 points and 8 assists respectively. Four Fujian SBS XunXin players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Qingdao Double Star moved-up to twelfth place. Fujian SBS XunXin lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixteenth position with 18 games lost. Qingdao Double Star will meet at home higher ranked Guandong Tigers (#3) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Fujian SBS XunXin will have a break next round.
