Regular Season Round 23: BI SSA Gdynia - Wisla Can-Pak 71-66

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Wisla Can-Pak (19-2) on the court of fifth ranked Lotos Gdynia on Wednesday night. Visitors were defeated by Lotos Gdynia 71-66. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Wisla Can-Pak won fourth quarter 17-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great evening for Montenegrin forward Milka Bjelica (193-81) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds. International forward Daria Mieloszynska (188-83, college: Texas, agency: Data Plus Group) helped adding 15 points and 6 rebounds. Five Lotos Gdynia players scored in double figures. The former international center Ewelina Kobryn (193-82, agency: Data Plus Group) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and Australian guard Erin Phillips (173-85) scored 17 points, 6 assists and 5 steals. Lotos Gdynia (14-7) have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Defending champion (14-7) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Lider Pruszkow. Wisla Can-Pak at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. They share it with CCC Polkowice. Lotos Gdynia is looking forward to face Utex Row (#11) in Rybnik in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Wisla Can-Pak will play at home against the league's second-placed CCC Polkowice (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
