Second Stage Round 17: Lanus - La Union 73-66

The game in Buenos Aires was also quite interesting. 5th ranked La Union (10-7) played at the court of sixth ranked Lanus (11-6). Lanus managed to secure a 7-point victory 73-66 on Friday. La Union was trailing by 6 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 22-13 charge of Lanus, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Mariano Byro (195-82) who scored 17 points. Naturalized Spanish guard Lucas Victoriano (190-77, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 11 points and 4 assists. Lanus' coach Silvio Jose Santander used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American power forward Byron Johnson (201-80, college: Belm.Abbey, agency: Dream Team Management) produced 14 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import guard David Jackson (196-82, college: Penn St.) added 16 points respectively for the guests. Lanus moved-up to third place, which they share with Atenas. Loser La Union dropped to the sixth position with seven games lost. Lanus will face Regatas Corrientes (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. La Union will play against Boca Juniors (#13) in Buenos Aires.
