Regular Season Round 19: Kings - Taipans 81-69

Bottom-ranked Kings managed to get a fifth victory. This time they won against fourth-ranked Cairns Taipans in Sydney 81-69. Cairns Taipans were ahead by 2 points at the halftime before a 39-25 second half run of Kings. 25 personal fouls committed by Cairns Taipans helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center Julian Khazzouh (211-86) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Patrick Sanders (198-85, college: Cal-Irvine) contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Five Kings players scored in double figures. Center Ian Crosswhite (212-82, college: Oregon) answered with 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Ayinde Ubaka (193-85, college: California) added 17 points in the effort for Cairns Taipans. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kings maintains ninth place with 5-16 record. Cairns Taipans lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the fourth position with ten games lost. Kings' next round opponent will be higher ranked Townsville Crocodiles (#3) in Wulguru and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
