Very important is a road loss of third ranked Esperides (10-6) against tenth ranked Proteas (4-12) on Saturday night. Visiting Esperides was defeated by Proteas in a tough game in Voula 58-62. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 62-58. Proteas dominated on the defensive end, holding Esperides to just 1 points in third quarter. The winners were led by German power forward Linda Frohlich (188-79, college: UNLV, agency: LBM Management) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 11 points and 13 rebounds and American guard Emily Fox (175-87, college: Minnesota) supported her with 7 points and 8 rebounds. Even 15 points and 5 assists by forward Marianna Axiopoulou (180-84) did not help to save the game for Esperides. Bulgarian center Lidia Milkova (192-70) added 14 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Newly promoted Proteas maintains tenth position with 4-12 record. Esperides at the other side dropped to the fourth place with six games lost. Proteas will meet higher ranked FEA Neas (#8) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Esperides will play against the league's second-placed DAS Ano Liosa (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.
