Regular Season Round 31: Toyota Alvark - Panasonic T. 62-76

Round 31 most important game was a victory of Panasonic Trians over their biggest opponent Toyota Alvark 76-62 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Toyota Alvark. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Panasonic Trians. Toyota Alvark managed to win second period 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Toyota Alvark to just 7 points in first quarter. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center Fumihiko Aono (210-78) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. International guard Hiroyuki Kinoshita (178-80) contributed with 12 points and 6 assists (made all of his ten free throws !!!) for the winners. Panasonic Trians' coach Yoshiaki Shimizu used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Philip Ricci (202-80, college: Oregon St.) answered with 18 points and 9 rebounds and the former international forward Michael Takahashi (198-74, college: Cal.St. Northridge) added 11 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Toyota Alvark. Panasonic Trians (21-10) moved-up to second place. Toyota Alvark at the other side dropped to the third position with 11 games lost. Panasonic Trians will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Toyota Alvark will play again at home against the league's second-placed Panasonic Trians in Osaka and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
