Regular Season Round 18: Kolossos - Iraklis 82-87

Bottom-ranked Iraklis managed to get a fourth victory, breaking the five-game losing streak. This time newly promoted Iraklis won against seventh-ranked VAP Kolossos in Rodou 87-82. The guests were already 16 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 38-27 VAP Kolossos' run in the last quarter cut the lead to 87-82 at the end of the game. Iraklis made 19-of-24 charity shots (79.2 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three nailing 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. VAP Kolossos was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Jerome Coleman (185-81, college: Rutgers) scored 34 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and forward Vasilis Angelakopoulos (203-79) chipped in 11 points during the contest. Four Iraklis players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was naturalized American swingman Pat Kalathis (208-85, college: St.Joseph's) with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) and forward Antonis Asimakopoulos (204-76) scored 13 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. VAP Kolossos' coach Giannis Sferopoulos tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Iraklis (4-14) moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with AEK. VAP Kolossos lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with ten games lost. Iraklis will play against higher ranked Kavala (#6) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. VAP Kolossos will play against Aris in Thessaloniki and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
