Rather expected game when 8th ranked Svjetlost (6-9) lost to sixth ranked Kvarner 2010 (8-7) in Rijeka 75-88 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Kvarner 2010. Svjetlost managed to win fourth quarter 29-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 30-of-38 free shots (78.9 percent) during the game. Kvarner 2010 outrebounded Svjetlost 32-20 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for center Matija Poscic (207-85, college: De Paul) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Hrvoje Puljko (193-83) accounted for 18 points for the winning side. Four Kvarner 2010 players scored in double figures. Forward Igor Maric (196-85) came up with 21 points and 6 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and power forward Srdan Helbich (205-76) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Svjetlost in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kvarner 2010 moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Dubrovnik. Svjetlost lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with nine games lost. Kvarner 2010 will meet league's leader KK Split on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Svjetlost will play against the league's second-placed Borik Puntamika (#2) in Zadar and hope to secure a win.
