Regular Season Round 17: Polonia W-wa - Polpharma 68-62

The most shocking disappointment of round 17 was a road defeat of 4th placed Polpharma (10-7) to eighth ranked Polonia Azbud (8-9) 68-62. It ended the six-game winning streak of Polpharma. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Polpharma won third quarter 21-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Guard Marcin Nowakowski (184-89) stepped up and scored 15 points and 4 assists for the winners and American power forward David Palmer (206-86, college: N.Kentucky) chipped in 10 points and 8 rebounds. Four Polonia Azbud players scored in double figures. Serbian power forward Uros Mirkovic (205-82, agency: BeoExcell) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and American center Kirk Archibeque (205-84, college: Fort Lewis, agency: Hart Sports Mngm) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Polpharma's coach Zoran Sretenovic rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Polonia Azbud moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Anwil. Polpharma at the other side keeps the fourth position with seven games lost. They share it with Trefl Sopot. Polonia Azbud is looking forward to face Zastal (#9) in Zielona Gora in the next round. Polpharma will play at home against PGE Turow (#3) in Zgorzelec and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
