Regular Season Round 15: Panelefsiniakos - KAOD 65-67

Fourth-ranked Panelefsiniakos (9-6) gave a tough game to first ranked KAOD (14-1) in Eleusina on Saturday. The visitors from Dramas managed to secure only two-point victory 67-65. However their fans expected easier game. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Panelefsiniakos won third quarter 17-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. KAOD made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. KAOD outrebounded Panelefsiniakos 37-22 including 25 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for Serbian guard Ivan Vukantinov (193-81) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds. Montenegrin center Ljubo Jovanovic (206-87) helped adding 21 points and 8 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). The best for the losing side was guard Nikos Kaklamanos (189-81, agency: FCM) with 25 points and forward Christos Deligiannis (204-84, agency: FCM) scored 11 points. Panelefsiniakos' coach Giorgos Skarafingas tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. KAOD have an impressive series of thirteen victories in a row. They maintain first place with 14-1 record. Newly promoted Panelefsiniakos dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. KAOD are looking forward to face Olimpiada (#11) in Patras in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Panelefsiniakos will play at home against AGOR (#3) in Rethymno and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
