Regular Season Round 23: Gornik - Sportino 71-98

Very expected game in Walbrzych where 14th ranked Gornik (5-17) was crushed by second ranked ISS Sportino (17-5) 98-71 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by ISS Sportino. Gornik managed to win third quarter 25-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Gornik to just 7 points in second quarter. The best player for the winners was center Aleksander Lichodzijewski (202-84) who scored 21 points and 9 rebounds. Power forward Wojciech Zurawski (199-76) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Four ISS Sportino players scored in double figures. Swingman Marcin Wrobel (200-87) produced 15 points and 9 rebounds and forward Lukasz Muszynski (201-81) added 15 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. ISS Sportino have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain second place with 17-5 record behind leader Tempcold AZS. Gornik lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the fifteenth position with 17 games lost. ISS Sportino will meet at home league's leader AZS Politechnika Warszawska in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Gornik will play against MMKS Dabrowa Gornicza (#5) and hope to secure a win and be promoted back to the PLK just one year after relegation.
