Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Athens: Panionios (#7) and Panathinaikos (#5). Panionios (9-7) won against visiting Panathinaikos (9-7) 65-61. Panionios forced 20 Panathinaikos turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Croatian forward Mirna Mazic (188-85, college: Richmond) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and American guard Kary Koch (173-83, college: Missouri St.) who added 17 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals during the contest. At the losing side Romanian forward Gabriela Marginean (185-87, college: Drexel) responded with 22 points and 7 rebounds (made all of her eight free throws) and American guard Jordan Murphree (183-87, college: Texas Tech, agency: Merit Sports) scored 9 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Panionios moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Apollon and Panathinaikos. Panionios will play against higher ranked Aris (#3) in Thessaloniki in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Panathinaikos' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Athens Olympiakos.
