Regular Season Round 19: Cimberio VA - Benetton TV 74-68

There was a minor upset when 12th ranked Benetton Treviso (8-11) was defeated on the road by fourteenth ranked Cimberio Varese (8-11) 74-68 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 74-68. Cimberio Varese forced 28 Benetton Treviso turnovers. Strangely Benetton Treviso outrebounded Cimberio Varese 39-24 including 24 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for American forward Ronald Slay (203-81, college: Tennessee, agency: David Lee services) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points and 5 rebounds. Estonian forward Kristjan Kangur (202-82) helped adding 13 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side American swingman Devin Smith (196-81, college: Virginia) responded with 20 points and 6 rebounds and American-Swiss forward Greg Brunner (201-83, college: Iowa) scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. Four Benetton Treviso players scored in double figures. Cimberio Varese moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Benetton Treviso. Cimberio Varese will face bottom-ranked Enel Brindisi (#16) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
