Very important is a road loss of third ranked Niigata Albirex (16-16) against fifth ranked Kyoto Hannaryz (17-17) on Sunday night. Visiting Niigata Albirex was crushed by Kyoto Hannaryz in Kyoto 85-65. The game was mostly controlled by Kyoto Hannaryz. Niigata Albirex was better in second period 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kyoto Hannaryz dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Niigata Albirex's 28. They outrebounded Niigata Albirex 53-27 including a 37-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. It was an exceptional evening for guard Wendell White (198-84, college: UNLV) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 16 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Guard Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf (186-69, college: LSU) accounted for 23 points for the winning side. Forward Nick DeWitz (203-82, college: Oregon St.) came up with 13 points and 6 rebounds and power forward Zachary Andrews (203-85, college: Bradley) added 13 points respectively for Niigata Albirex in the defeat. Niigata Albirex's coach Masaya Hirose rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Kyoto Hannaryz maintains fifth place with 17-17 record. Niigata Albirex at the other side dropped to the fourth position with 16 games lost. Kyoto Hannaryz will play against league's second-placed Sendai 89ers on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Niigata Albirex will play against Saitama Broncos and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
