There was a minor upset when 4th ranked Baloncesto Leon (15-9) lost at home to sixth ranked Melilla Baloncesto (13-11) 72-62 on Sunday. Baloncesto Leon was trailing by 11 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 18-5 charge of Melilla Baloncesto, which allowed them to win the game. Melilla Baloncesto dominated on the defensive end, holding Baloncesto Leon to just 5 points in fourth quarter. It was a good game for center Javier Vega (205-88) who led his team to a victory with 17 points and 5 rebounds. American-Austrian guard Jason Detrick (198-80, college: Oklahoma) contributed with 10 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Melilla Baloncesto's coach Gonzalo Garcia used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. American power forward Kahiem Seawright (203-86, college: Rhode Island, agency: Impact Basketball) replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and power forward Jorge Garcia (203-77) added 15 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Baloncesto Leon. Melilla Baloncesto maintains sixth position with 13-11 record. Baloncesto Leon lost fourth consecutive game. Loser Baloncesto Leon keeps the fourth place with nine games lost.
