Higher ranked Beijing Ducks (13-11) fell to thirteenth ranked Shanxi Zhongyu (10-14) in overtime by five points 104-109. The game took place in Beijing. But the guests from Taiyuan were better at the end. It looked good early as Beijing Ducks took an 10-point lead at the end of first quarter. Then Shanxi Zhongyu had a 27-16 second period charge getting the lead. Then Beijing Ducks managed to tie the game at the end of regular time, but lost overtime period 12-17. 30 personal fouls committed by Beijing Ducks helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American forward Leon Rodgers (199-80, college: N.Illinois) who had a double-double by scoring 43 points (!!!) and 15 rebounds. Jordanian guard Osama Daghlas (199-79, college: Midwestern St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 23 points, 9 rebounds and 13 assists. Four Shanxi Zhongyu players scored in double figures. American power forward Randolph Morris (211-86, college: Kentucky) produced a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds and Jordanian forward Zaid Abbaas (203-83) added 18 points and 14 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) respectively for the hosts. Shanxi Zhongyu have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to eleventh place. Beijing Ducks at the other side dropped to the sixth position with 11 games lost. Shanxi Zhongyu's next round opponent will be league's leader Xinjiang Flying Tige in Urumqi and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
