Very expected game in Bahia Blanca where 16th ranked Sionista (5-14) was defeated by eleventh ranked Estudiantes (8-10) 83-71 on Tuesday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Estudiantes outrebounded Sionista 33-20 including 23 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for naturalized Spanish guard Pepe Sanchez (193-77, college: Temple) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals. Naturalized Italian guard Pablo Gil (188-78) helped adding 23 points and 6 rebounds. Four Estudiantes players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Christopher Hayes (206-87, college: Detroit Mercy) responded with 27 points and 6 rebounds and guard Pedro Franco (187-81) scored 12 points and 6 assists. Estudiantes have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain eleventh place with 8-10 record. Sionista lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. Estudiantes will face league's second-placed Lanus in Buenos Aires in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sionista will play at home against Atenas (#6) in Cordoba.
