Regular Season Round 38: Prievidza - Komarno 75-79

Date: February 23, 2011
The game in Prievidza was also worth to mention about. Third ranked Komarno (18-14) played at the court of 8th ranked Prievidza (12-19). Komarno managed to secure a 4-point victory 79-75. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Prievidza. It looked good early as Prievidza took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Komarno had a 18-15 second period charge getting the lead and Prievidza was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 75-79. Bahamas forward Jaraun Burrows (203-85, college: IPFW, agency: Warren Sports International) notched 17 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and Latvian forward Martins Berkis (199-85, agency: Warren Sports International) supported him with 20 points. Four Komarno players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 21 points and 15 rebounds by international center Gabriel Szalay (215-86) did not help to save the game for Prievidza. American guard Jeremy Fears (196-85, college: Bradley) added 16 points and 9 assists for the hosts. Komarno maintains third position with 18-14 record having four points less than leader Nitra. Prievidza at the other side keeps the eighth place with 19 games lost. They share the position with B.Bystrica. Komarno will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Prievidza will play at home against the league's second-placed Nova Ves (#2) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
