Very important is a road loss of third ranked Keflavik (13-6) against ninth ranked Njardvik (8-11) on Thursday night. Visiting Keflavik was edged by Njardvik in a tough game in Njardvik in overtime102-104. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Keflavik. Keflavik was ahead by 5 points after three quarters before a 23-18 charge of Njardvik, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 11-9. Njardvik made 17-of-20 charity shots (85.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 23 Keflavik turnovers. Keflavik was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American guard Giordan Watson (178-85, college: Cent.Michigan) who led his team to a victory scoring 40 points (!!!) and 5 assists. Guard Guamundur Jonsson (191-84) helped adding 24 points and 8 rebounds. Njardvik's coach Sigurour Ingimundarson allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the losing side the former international guard Axel Vilhjalmsson (188-88) responded with 22 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and American guard Thomas Sanders (191-85, college: Gardner-Webb, agency: Duran International) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists. Four Keflavik players scored in double figures. Njardvik moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Haukar and IR. Keflavik at the other side keeps the third position with six games lost. They share it with Grindavik. Njardvik will play against Haukar (#8) in Hafnarfjordur in the next round. Keflavik will play at home against KFI (#12) in Reykjavik and hopes to get back on the winning track.
