Regular Season Round 20: Taipans - Kings 75-76

Bottom-ranked Kings managed to get the second consecutive victory on Friday night. This time they edged fourth-ranked Cairns Taipans 76-75. The guests trailed by 8 points after three quarters before their 22-13 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Cairns Taipans outrebounded Kings 40-25 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Kings especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.1 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center Julian Khazzouh (211-86) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds and American forward Patrick Sanders (198-85, college: Cal-Irvine) who added 17 points during the contest. American swingman Ronald Dorsey (197-83, college: McNeese St.) responded with 20 points and 7 rebounds and center Ian Crosswhite (212-82, college: Oregon) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Cairns Taipans players scored in double figures. Kings maintains ninth position with 6-17 record. Cairns Taipans lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with 11 games lost. Kings will meet at home higher ranked Melbourne Tigers (#7) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Cairns Taipans will play against Perth Wildcats and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
