An interesting game was also a 19-point surprising road defeat of 5th ranked Stjarnan in a game in Reykjavik versus IR (#8) 100-81. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Stjarnan. The hosts trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 66-43 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. IR made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American guard James Bartolotta (193-86, college: MIT) who led the winners and scored 31 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. His fellow American import forward Kelly Biedler (196-88, college: Mt.St.Mary's) accounted for 13 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side. Five IR players scored in double figures. American-Estonian forward Renato Lindmets (198-84, college: Westfield St., agency: Tank Sports) came up with 24 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Justin Shouse (180-81, college: Mercyhurst) added 11 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists respectively for Stjarnan in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. IR (8-11) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Njardvik and Haukar. Loser Stjarnan keeps the fifth position with nine games lost. IR will meet Hamar (#10) on the road in the next round. Stjarnan will play against the league's leader Snaefell (#1) in Stykkisholmur and hope to secure a win.
