Rather predictable result in Helsinki where eighth ranked Torpan Pojat (17-20) outscored 10th ranked Salon Vilpas (13-24) 87-68. Salon Vilpas was ahead by 3 points at the halftime before a 47-25 second half run of Torpan Pojat. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward LaVell Blanchard (201-81, college: Michigan, agency: Beo Basket) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 5 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Frank Richards (188-82, college: Kansas St.) contributed with 16 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Torpan Pojat players scored in double figures. Torpan Pojat's coach Miguel Lopez allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Forward Matti Nuutinen (200-90) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and forward Samu Kaaresvirta (192-81) added 10 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Salon Vilpas. Torpan Pojat maintains eighth place with 17-20 record. Salon Vilpas at the other side keeps the tenth position with 24 games lost. Torpan Pojat will play against league's second-placed KTP-Basket in Kotka in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
